Abstract Noun
Loneliness tastes like cookie dough ice cream.
It feels like a black hole…a void.
It looks like rain on the window of an empty apartment.
It smells like my ex-boyfriend’s cologne.
Loneliness sounds like sad songs on the radio.

Mischievousness tastes like Mom’s hidden Dove chocolates.
It feels like the rush of wind pushing me along.
It looks like a child hiding in the bathroom.
It smells like my sister’s favorite perfume.
Mischievousness sounds like whistling in the kitchen.

Friendship feels like a shoulder to cry on.
It sounds like children’s laughter.
It tastes like gooey chocolate brownies.
It smells like clean laundry.
Friendship looks like black and white photo booth pictures.

Love sounds like Josh Groban’s latest hit.
It feels like a blanket of protection.
It tastes like spearmint lip gloss.
It smells like Cool Water cologne.
Love looks like a handwritten letter.

Haiku
High upon a hill
Still bright light radiates there
Warmth, peace, love—the temple.

Clear trickling stream,
Moss upon my thinking rock
A hush in the air.

Sound Poems

Children laughing
Seagulls speaking
Boats humming
Crabs scuttling
Sand sucking
